Name;  Tony Hicks
Role; Mountain Bike Development Manager
Style; Flat out!

I came to cycling relatively late in life after returning from a career in London. I started riding off road around 10 years ago and quickly realised I was a bit of a speed freak and started racing Downhill shortly after. This has allowed me to travel all over the UK with summer trips to The Alps being particular highlights. Over this time I achieved 22 podiums with 10 wins including 2nd at the National Champs and 1st at the English Champs in 2011 as a Grand Veteran (over 50). In 2014 I turned my talents to the burgeoning Enduro scene resulting in 14 podiums with 7 wins in just 2 years, culminating in a 3rd overall in the UK Gravity Enduro National Series.
Currently, I am not competing but just riding my bike for the sheer 'fun' of it. I have found that this has been made all the more enjoyable with the addition of an electric motor, specifically a Trek Powerfly 9 LT, and am one of the first people to use an eBike for full on Trail riding in the South West. My local riding spots are Poldice Valley and Grogley Woods. With regular trail rides within a 20/30 mile radius of Redruth, taking in the North Cliffs and Carn Marth/Brea, I have a first hand knowledge of the needs of local riders. I am often found up Poldice digging new trails and building jumps for the more adventurous and get great pleasure in seeing riders progress and conquer terrain they thought was beyond them. It doesn't need to be big jumps and thrill seeking though as to see anyone progressing on a bike is the aim, whether it's in their personal fitness or just for fun.
