Dr Amy Dunwell MChiro (Doctor of Chiropractic)
Following a long standing interest in posture, anatomy, physiology and neurology Amy graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic with a Master of Chiropractic degree in 2009. Following graduation she developed a passion for discerning the difference between dysfunction and pain, health and disease. Through various techniques Amy has developed skills using muscle testing to thoroughly assess the connections between nerves and muscle function body-wide in all ranges of movement.
The primary goal in testing muscle resistance is through assessing the myotactic (muscle) reflex and underlying weakness can be discovered and corrected. The theory behind improving neuromuscular imbalances is to restore optimal muscle function, therefore reducing the chance of injury through poor reflex control and proprioception (body position sense). This facilitates the healing of painful conditions e.g. sciatica, back/neck pain but can be just as effective to discern subtle imbalances in elite athletes required to perform to a high physical level.
Originating from Cornwall Amy is a keen cyclist, yogi, mountain and motorbiker who enjoys working with people from all backgrounds and levels of physical fitness.
